NutriSystem D – Weight Loss Plan for Diabetics
For many diabetics, diet can be difficult to keep under control – a primary reason NutriSystem D by NutriSystem was developed. Diabetes is often either caused or made worse by weight problems, and this is especially true for type II diabetes. Therefore, diabetics are told quite often, by friends, family, and doctors alike, that they should try to lose weight to help them deal with diabetes better. A completely different set of food intake guidelines become necessary as soon as diabetes is discovered. In order to prevent a dangerous health emergency, diabetics have to maintain certain blood sugar levels. These added dietary restrictions can make weight loss even more difficult because they further restrict what diabetics should and should not eat.
Fortunately, NutriSystem D is a new program to improve the weight loss options for diabetics. In a similar fashion to their other product lines, NutriSystem D provides prepackaged meals to its members that are designed specifically for the purpose of losing weight and maintaining blood sugar levels. Members are able to supplement these meals with fruit, vegetables and low-fat dairy products to ensure they receive a well-balanced diet.
Studies conducted by NutriSystem have shown that this diet, if correctly implemented, can result in significant decreases in body weight, and consequently improve the health of the participant. Since being overweight can (and will) make diabetes worse, this link is very important. The study, which was conducted at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, also shows that following the NutriSystem D diet helped to lower the A1c score of participants. This finding is significant, as the A1c score is a measurement used to evaluate the blood sugar levels and insulin production in diabetes. A lower score means that the diabetes are being controlled better, which is definitely a good thing. Diabetes is a life-long illness, and medication can only go so far. Diabetics will notice the improvements when overall wellness, health, and body weight are improved.
The potential impact of NutriSystem D is large. Nearly 23 million Americans suffer from diabetes, and this number is expected to continue to grow. There is a common trend. Nearly all diabetics are overweight, and more than 50% of them are outright obese. Even though these figures show that weight causes a large variety of problems and complications for the dibetic community, the past has shown that it is very difficult for someone to lose weight while trying to battle diabetes due to the wide variety of factors that effect what can and cannot be eaten by a diabetic. The Nutrisystem D plan assists diabetics in losing weight, and even a small loss of weight, in the range of only 5 to 7 percent of current body weight, can lead to a signficant impact on their health.
